Requirements

The following information is an excerpt from the State of NH " how to hire
and interpreter" handbook and should serve as a guide to both interpreters and hiring agencies. In NH, interpreters are in private practice
(freelance); the following guidelines have been developed and have become standard for the field:

• licensed by the state - download a licensure application -           (July 1, 2006, NH Interpreter licensure law changes)

• If a deaf person prefers you for a particular assignment they can fill out and send in a waiver form (form must be filled out by the deaf person and filled out each time that interpreter is used) - download waiver.  Waivers must be sent  to the state for approval 7 days before date of the assignment.
